Works and projects announced for Rocky Point

The project for the construction of roads connecting the coastal highway to the resort areas in Rocky Point was set in stone by the signing of an agreement by the Mayor Alejandro Zepeda and the Tourism Promotion Coordinator of Sonora Javier Tapia.

This project of 4.1 km will be divided into two phases. With a total cost of about 10 million pesos. The roads are planned to be completed in the first quarter of next year.

Work is also expected to star this year on a new Convention Center that will cost about 60 million pesos, of which 30 million pesos has been approved for the first stage.

He stressed that this project is supported by the Federal Government, the State, the Municipality and the Department of Tourism and is expected to start its construction in a maximum of 60 days and be completely finished in 2012.

He highlighted that on the instructions of the Governor of Sonora, Guillermo Padres, they are working on the studies for the making of a Home Port to be a reality in Puerto Penasco, which is expected to occur in 2013.

Major projects such as the Convention Center which will be located in the place of the old airport, connecting roads and the arrival of cruise ships are part of a push to increase the flow of visitors to this city and for them to enjoy the attractions that Rocky Point offers.

There is willingness on the part of a State Government to work hand in hand with local authorities for these projects to become a reality in a short time for the benefit of residents and the tourism industry of this city.

Mayor Alejandro Zepeda was thankful for the support being provided that will allow Puerto Penasco one of the best tourist spots in the region. This administration will continue working to manage large projects like these which will come to further boost the development of our port and additionally will increase the number of visitors that each year come to visit us.
