Ultimate Entertainment Schedule and Lineup

*All Shows Included With a Purchased 2017 Circus Mexicus Ticket

Reminder: The Mexican Moonshine Main Stage has moved just west of its previous location to in front of the Sonoran Sea and just west of Banditos.  Fans will enter and exit through the Banditos parking lot.

Because there are so many bands this year participating in Circus Mexicus for the first time, and because so many new fans are attending—more and more—each year, we thought it would be nice if we did the tedious “leg work” of digging up biographical tidbits on all the bands in the lineup this weekend so you don’t have to.

You can download this schedule to your smartphone for reference all weekend.

THURSDAY JUNE 8TH

WRECKED AT THE REEF BEACH STAGE

ZUBIAS’ BAND OF BROTHERS @ 3PM

Lawrence and Mark Zubia have been an integral part of the Valley music scene for three decades leading several renowned local bands, including The Pistoleros who were signed by Hollywood Records and released their first album in 2004, Voices on the Street. They will appear at Circus Mexicus this year in both their Zubia Brothers Band and The Pistoleros.

WILL CALL 2:00 – 5:00

JJ’s CANTINA

DARCI CARLSON BAND @ 7:30PM

Winner of the 2017 Ameripolitan Outlaw Country Female of the Year Award, Singer/Songwriter Darci Carlson hails from Seattle, WA and tours throughout the west. She’s a first timer to Circus Mexicus but not to Puerto Peñasco. She has a stock pile of favorable reviews like (our favorite of many) “…It was good country music. The kind that makes you want to drink whiskey, and then drink some more whiskey. If Waylon had a daughter, she’d be it.” – ABSeattle Blog

THE LAWBREAKERS – FEATURING JIM, NICK & PH FROM RCPM @ 8:45PM

Jim, Nick and PH…Nuff said!

PISTOLEROS @ 10PM

Here are the Brother’s Zubia back with their Pistoleros Band members and a lot of their original fare. Tonight they are accompanied by some elite musicians you’re familiar with!

WILL CALL 7:00-10:00PM

BANDITOS INDOOR STAGE (It’s still Thursday, ya’ll!)

BLACK BOTTOM LIGHTERS (BLL) @ 11:15PM

BBL, a band of besties and serious musical artists who have created such an eclectic blend of original lyrics with reggae, rock, hip-hop and rap that they’re credited with and pretty much solely inhabit their own genre—Desert Reggae Rock. With two EP’s, a full length album, “2 of 2000”, and several music videos on You Tube, one of which, “Home Grown” has garnered 150,000 views, plus Phoenix New Times Reader’s Choice Award for “Best Local Band” of 2015, BBL will bring their legion of hard core followers addicted to the high energy shows and tightly packed lyrics delivered with perfect rhythm, resonance and clarity by lead singer/songwriter Ryan (“Stilly”) Stillwell.

FRIDAY JUNE 9TH

JJ’S CANTINA (Wake up, ya’ll! It’s time to rock s’more)

SOUTHWEST by MIDNIGHT @ 1PM

Released their debut CD in May of 2016, “Mix Tape”, with 11 original songs described in the album notes as “…sun drenched Arizona rock with a little blues and funk…a truly distinct sound from the Sonoran Desert. The next month SWxM joined Circus Mexicus for the first time and they are back this year to give us a second helping of their unique brand of desert rock energized by seasoned musicians backing the strong vocals from lead singer, Deirdre Evans.

RYAN BEXLEY BAND @ 2PM

This singer/songwriter brings his raw, raspy voice and straight forward soul searching pure country lyrics to Circus Mexicus for the first time. Based out of Nashville, Ryan tours coast to coast showcasing his talents while opening for stars like Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban and many others.

DARCI CARLSON BAND @ 3PM

The bewitching outlaw country girl gonna wind you up for the big evening ahead!

BANDITOS INDOOR STAGE

SEAN KELLY – FROM THE SAMPLES @ 5PM

Sean is the original founder of The Samples 30 years ago and he’s been the driving force behind the production of 20 albums and sales of over a million records. He’ll do a solo gig tonight sharing his voice that has kept The Samples touring and recording since 1987!

MEXICAN MOONSHINE MAIN STAGE

GATE OPENS:  6PM

PISTOLEROS @ 6:30PM

Back on the big stage by popular demand!

SAND RUBIES @ 7:30PM

They began as The Sidewinders out of Tucson in the 80’s as early pioneers of the Desert Rock genre, and through the years they’ve enjoyed international fame, released over a dozen albums and EP’s under major labels with worldwide radio play and singles off two of them charting at #18 and #23, and have toured extensively including internationally and will surely be playing a lot of their hits as veteran performers at Circus Mexicus.

THE BLACK MOODS @ 8:30

This high energy rock and roll touring group needs no intro even if this is your first Circus Mexicus adventure. They’ve become Rocky Point regulars since their very first appearance at Circus Mexicus, known not just for their great music, but for the generous contribution of their time and talents to help RCPM and local charities raise funds to help the less fortunate in our beachside community.

ROGER CLYNE & THE PEACEMAKERS @ 10PM

Ahem…your Circus Mexicus founders and your hosts for the XXVIth time: True Rocky Point Royalty! Get ready to ROCK!!!

BANDITOS OUTDOOR STAGE

BLACK BOTTOM LIGHTERS @ 12:15AM

BLL are night rockers…they’re just getting warmed up about this time!

SATURDAY JUNE 10

WRECKED AT THE REEF BEACH STAGE

ROGER CLYNE’S ROCK AND BEACH SOCCER TOURNAMENT @ 9AM

FYI: If you’re into beach soccer at all, you’ll be impressed with the level of skill and competition at which these teams play to raise funds for local charities like the Esperanza Children’s Home, new and used sporting equipment donated by the competing team members and other fans—like you?—who bring down gently used and even new sports supplies and equipment for the local Youth Sports Foundation. So come on out for that first Bloody Mary and check your garage and the dark corners of your closet for your favorite baseball glove or cleats you know you’ll never use again and bring them with!

SUGAHBEAT @ 11AM

This quintet of accomplished musicians and vocalists performed at CM last year and were invited back probably best explained why in the creative description of their music on the Sugahbeat website: “…Sugahbeat is refreshingly different, seamlessly blending world rhythms with contemporary beats, Reggae with Samba, Pop with Soca (West Indian for “Soul Calypso”), Latin with R&B, until the lines are blurred between them all, creating a distinctive, proprietary sound.” If you haven’t already, you’ll get it all when you see their two sets over the weekend.

RYAN BEXLEY BAND @ 12:15PM

Yeah, you’re ready for some more of Ryan’s deep and raspy country croonin’ to ease that XX Lager around the lime you just squished into the neck of your beer bottle.

MR. MIRAINGA @ 1:30PM

Like several of the bands this year, this seasoned quintet has toured the world on their artful mix of least expected genres to create their own sound from blends of rock, mambo, ska, reggae, Latin and punk that has hooked radio stations around the nation and abroad to embed Mr. Mirainga songs into their daily playlists.

SAND RUBIES @ 2:45PM

Back for their second and final set. Don’t miss this one!

WHISKEY’S QUICKER @ 4PM

This talented cover band graces stages in Rocky Point year around since first appearing at Circus Mexicus. They’re a Phoenix icon and the dream child of Dan Bickley, popular Phoenix sports radio personality who hosts The Dan Bickley Show with Vince Marotta daily on AZ Sports 98.7 FM.

WILL CALL 12:00 – 2PM

BANDITOS INDOOR STAGE

THE JONS – FULL BAND @ 5PM

Unless you’re new to Arizona and to Circus Mexicus, you know of this full band of multi-instrument individuals out of Tucson. They’ve worked their way from a small Nogales group to a beloved Tucson staple with two albums and a large following.

WILL CALL 5:00 – 11:00PM

MEXICAN MOONSHINE MAIN STAGE

GATES OPEN 6PM

FAYUCA @ 6:30PM

First timers to Circus Mexicus, this AZ based Latino Reggae-Rock group, fronted by singer/songwriter and founder Gabo Fayuca, the driving force behind the writing, recording and launch of their first album in 2004 and four studio albums since. Their music is more than the creative blend of genres like modern reggae with crisp Latin percussion and progressive rock guitar interludes that have made them a national and international touring act while their music has been featured on major networks and used as the title theme for at least one original series. Their online Bio paints an even more important scenario, which is Fayuca’s laudable intention to create songs and music that promote Latino culture, good vibes and self-identification and to inspire people around the world by spreading a message of courage, love and empowerment. That message is clear in much of their work; a little more subtly delivered in some.

JASON DEVORE @ 7:30PM

This is the first time at Circus Mexicus for the highly active front man for the internationally famed punk rock-reggae band, Authority Zero. Jason is the most tenured member of Authority Zero, plus he has at least two side projects that have been developing for up to ten years. His solo recording project has produced two albums. His second side project came from his love for Irish culture, history and music. He and a friend have formed a punk Celtic band with a good sized playlist of original songs.

THE SAMPLES @ 8:30PM

Sean Kelly is back for his second set but with The Samples band who will surely show us why they’ve been central to the international pop/rock concert scene for 30 years

ROGER CLYNE & THE PEACEMAKERS @ 10PM

…and speaking of showing stuff, RCPM will rock the Mexican Moonshine Main Stage for the last time at Circus Mexicus XXVI with one of their signature sets that go nonstop until they are done…and no one knows, not even RCPM, when “done” will be declared this year!  We bet it won’t still be Saturday when they do decide they’re “done”, though!!

BANDITOS OUTDOOR STAGE

ELVIS BEFORE NOON (EBN) @ 12:15AM

When the Main Stage lights do go dark, the Rockin’ and Rollin’ picks right up with another bunch of Circus Mexicus veterans who are also year around favorites at many Rocky Point venues. EBN is a seasoned iconic ensemble ruling the East Valley live music scene with a long list of original fare brought to fruition by the band’s lead singer/songwriter, Daylon Greer. But these guys aren’t stuck-up on sticking to their own music creations; the decades of experience and expertise of every musician in Elvis Before Noon amounts to a virtual juke box full of your favorites, many of which are their faves also that they love to perform for fans.
